ما هي القاعدة؟

'Can' shows ability (I can swim) or permission (You can go). 'Can't' is the negative. 'Could' is the past of can (I could read at five) and is also used for polite requests (Could you help me?). After modals, use the base verb.

can تعني «يستطيع» أو «يُسمح له». can't تعني «لا يستطيع». could هي ماضي can (كنت أستطيع)، وتُستخدم أيضًا للطلب بأدب: Could you …? (هل يمكنك من فضلك…؟). بعد هذه الأفعال يأتي الفعل في أصله بدون to وبدون s.
