WHAT? · What is the grammar point?
ما هي القاعدة؟A common noun is a general thing (city, river). A proper noun is a specific name (Nizwa, Wadi Shab) and has a capital letter. Most plurals add -s. Nouns ending in -s, -sh, -ch, -x or -o usually add -es. Nouns ending in consonant + y change to -ies.
RULE
القاعدة- + s: book → books, fort → forts
- + es: box → boxes, dish → dishes, watch → watches, tomato → tomatoes
- consonant + y → ies: city → cities, family → families
- vowel + y → s: day → days
