WHAT? · What is the grammar point?

ما هي القاعدة؟

Use the passive when the action or the object is more important than who did it, or when the doer is unknown. It is common in reports, history and science.

نستخدم المبني للمجهول عندما يكون الحدث أو الشيء أهم من الفاعل، أو عندما لا نعرف الفاعل. يكثر في التقارير والتاريخ والعلوم. يمكن ذكر الفاعل بعد by إذا كان مهمًا.

RULE

subject + be (am/is/are/was/were) + past participle (+ by …)
Active: Workers built the fort. → Passive: The fort was built (by workers).
