Past Negatives, Questions and Time Expressions

I can make negative sentences and questions in the past with 'did'.

أستطيع تكوين النفي والسؤال في الماضي باستخدام did.

ما هي القاعدة؟

For past negatives use didn't + base verb. For questions use Did + subject + base verb. Time expressions like yesterday, last week, two days ago and in 2020 tell us to use the past.

في النفي نستخدم didn't ثم الفعل في أصله (بدون ed)، لأن did تحمل معنى الماضي. وفي السؤال نبدأ بـ Did. تعابير الزمن التي تدل على الماضي: yesterday (أمس)، last week (الأسبوع الماضي)، ago (منذ)، in 2019.

Question: Did + subject + base verb?
Short answer: Yes, I did. / No, I didn't.
Time: yesterday · last Friday · three days ago · in 2015
