Situation & purpose
الموقف والهدفSituation: You wrote a quick message to a friend about a school event. Now you must write about the same event to the school principal.
كتبت رسالة سريعة لصديق عن فعالية مدرسية، والآن يجب أن تكتب عن الفعالية نفسها لمدير المدرسة.
Purpose: To choose the right style for the right reader.

الشرح بالإنجليزيةThe same message can be written in two styles. FORMAL: Dear Sir/Madam · I am writing to… · I would like to… · Could you please…? · Kind regards. INFORMAL: Hi… · How are you? · Thanks for… · Can you…? · See you soon. Formal emails use full forms, polite requests and a serious tone. Informal emails use short forms, direct questions and a friendly tone. Think about WHO will read your email before you write.

Step-by-step guidance

Ask: who is the reader? A friend → informal. An organisation or an adult you don't know well → formal.
اسأل: من القارئ؟ صديق ← غير رسمي. جهة أو شخص لا تعرفه جيدًا ← رسمي.

Change the greeting and the sign-off.

Change short forms to full forms (I'm → I am).
